About the Exhibit:
"This collection was born from the passing of my grandparents and the difficult conversations that death demands. Raised in Hawaii, I find my work shaped by the fortress of my Japanese lineage and the unresolved heartache of my Hawaiian heritage. I’ve navigated the entitlement, greed, and misfortune of those cast aside; now, I am clawing toward the light—seeking the beauty I’ve always wanted to see and wondering what could be on the other side of shame. This is my offering: a tribute to the ancestors who shaped me and the enduring love of my chosen family." - Sharon Sakuma
